المستخلص: The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between financial development and poverty rates in Algeria for the period 1970-2017, by using new techniques for the unit root test and co-integration with structural breaks to answer the question is the financial sector benefits the poor people or not, the results shows that there is a long relationship between the variables with one structural break in 2009, but there is no evidence of any effect from the financial development on poverty rates even in long run or short run terms, counter to the economic growth which turned out to have an impact on poverty rate in both long run and short run terms which means that it is Pro Poor Growth.
