المستخلص: هذا البحث بعنوان: استعمال حروف العطف بعضها بمعنى بعض "دراسة نحوية تحليلية" وهو يتناول قضية خروج حرف العطف عن معناه الأصلي الذي وضع له واستعماله بمعنى حرف عطف آخر، وحروف العطف على قسمين: القسم الأول: ما يشرك المعطوف مع المعطوف عليه في اللفظ والحكم وحروفه هي: الواو وأو والفاء وثم وحتى وأم المتصلة، والقسم الثاني: ما يشرك المعطوف مع المعطوف عليه في اللفظ فقط وحروفه هي: بل ولا ولكن، ومع هذا المعنى العام الذي يجمع بين حروف كل قسم إلا أن كل حرف من حروف العطف اختص بالدلالة بطريق الأصالة على معنى وضع له، ولكن مع اختصاص كل حرف بمعنى وجدنا بعض حروف العطف قد استعملت بمعنى غيرها من حروف العطف الأخرى ، وقد ظهر هذا الاستعمال جليا من المعنى، ودل عليه السياق، وسيناقش هذا البحث هذه القضية؛ لبيان حروف العطف التي استعملت بمعنى غيرها من حروف العطف الأخرى، والشواهد التي ورد فيها هذا الاستعمال، مع ذكر آراء النحاة في هذه القضية، وأدلة كل على ما يراه، مع التحقق والتوثق من صحة نسبة هذه الآراء لأصحابها، ثم أعقبت ذلك بذكر أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها من خلال هذا البحث.
