المستخلص: The present study focuses on the role and the importance of "German Oriental Studie" in interculturalism, cross-cultural dialogue, interaction between cultures, dialogue of civilizations and acceptance of the other. The work examines the achievements of the German Orientalist Sigrid Hunke and her efforts and contributions in the interculturalism on the basis of the selected works "Allahs Sonne über dem Abendland" (="Allah's Sun over the Occident") (1960) and "Allah ist ganz anders" (="Allah is quite different") (1990). The most famous German Orientalist, Sigrid Hunke, attempted to highlight the importance of Arab achievements and influences on the European sciences and arts. The german orientalist, philosopher, psychologist, historian and germanist Sigrid Hunke (1913-1999) was very interested in showing the virtue of the Arabs to the West. She is known for her work in the field of religious studies and for her claims of Muslim influence over Western values. She felt her whole life connected with the Islamic religion and its cultures. She was against prejudice and hatred. The best-known german orientalist called for dialogue, toleration and reconciliation through knowledge. She believed that it was her duty to make it clear to the countrymen and the Europeans what a wonderful, rich heritage exists in the Arab world. Sigrid Hunke tried to bring Europeans closer to the positive aspects of the arab culture, literature and the art of Islam. She wanted to act as an intermediary of the Islamic world, as a bridge builder between the West and the East. She wanted through her publications and works to create peace between people and cultures. She sought to intercultural dialogue between East and West. In her books she asserted that the influence exerted by the Arabs on the West was the first step in freeing Europe from ignorance and backwardness. Her work reveals prejudices and misunderstandings against Muslims and Islam. Through her works she offered a positive picture of Islamic culture in all areas of life (medicine, philosophy, chemistry, literature, astronomy, natural science and mathematics). She objectively defended the Arabs and Islam and revealed many prejudices about them.
