|f The research paper is written under the title (Towards a Model Curriculum for Teaching Journalism in Arab Universities: A Comparative Evaluation Study of the Journalism Department at the University of Sudan and Jazan). The importance of the study emerges from several considerations, including the novelty of the topic. Analyzing the content of teaching plans at the undergraduate level is not discussed much by researchers. Therefore, this study was conducted in the hope that it would open the door to advanced studies to find out the reality of these educational plans and programs, in a way that would help to make good use of the human and material resources of the universities to reach the best outcomes. \nWhile the study aimed from behind that to find out closely the reality of the plans of the journalism departments in Arab universities, so that these plans could be studied in a scientific, evaluation and corrective manner instead of leaving them solely for perceptions, as well as to identify the degrees of correlation between these plans and the aspirations and expectations of the peoples of the Arab region in moving towards unity Even at a minimum. \nDue to the difficulty of studying and analyzing the contents of the total research community, that is, the teaching plans of the journalism departments in Arab universities as a whole, the researcher chose a miniature and expressive sample at the same time as a true expression of this total community. Therefore, two departments of journalism were chosen as a research sample. One from Sudan University of Science and Technology and the second Jazan University, for several reasons. Among them are the different administrative dependencies of these two departments. As the journalism department at the University of Sudan is affiliated with the Faculty of Media, while the Department of Journalism at Jazan University is affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. This type of dependency is widespread in Arab universities, as it casts a shadow over the teaching plans of the departments of journalism, and secondly for the two departments to adopt different approaches in their philosophy. The first reason is the qualitative expansion, and the second is the quantitative expansion in a manner that will be detailed. The third reason is the researcher's proximity to these two teaching plans, especially since the researcher worked for some time as a professor in these two departments.\nThe study, with its theoretical and analytical dimensions, of the reality of the teaching plan of the two departments of journalism - the study sample - led to concrete results as follows:\nThere are aspirations among the peoples and leaders of the Arab region that aspire to unity in university educational systems at least. These aspirations are evident through the formation of a federation of Arab universities and the work of seminars and scientific conferences that often recommend Arab rapprochement in the field of university education, as stated in the body of the study.\nThis era is considered the age of large groups and gatherings to face the challenges that Arab universities may not face alone. Therefore, this unity is not required but rather necessary. We refer here to the importance of integrating what is educational in modern technology to benefit from the information revolution and face the challenges of globalization, with the requirements of a gathering of university education systems to which the peoples of Europe and America preceded us as it was reviewed in the study.\nAs for the reality of the analytical field study of the teaching plans of Arab universities, it shows the extreme disparity not only at the branches level but also on the level of assets, which led to the absence of indicators for a unified Arab system for universities, but rather that the severity of the difference is evident in the great disparity in the teaching contents that creat here obstacles hindering the path of unity between the originally disparate Arab university systems, however, the application of the majority of Arab universities to the credit hour system is a sign of hope on the road to unity, in view of the fact this system provides a suitable platform for calculating the number of hours for students in various Arab universities, which is a step towards facilitating their movement within the proposed Unified Arab Universities System.\nThe study results also indicate that there is a significant weakness in some topics of the teaching plans of the departments of journalism in the two universities, in the study sample, such as the electronic journalism topic, whose number of hours ranges between (20.9) and (19.4) as the text of the study shows. It means the constant need to reevaluate these instructional plans that must be conducted according to predetermined percentages and measurable indicators.\nLet us conclude from these generalized results to specific recommendations as follows:\n- The need to move towards building a unified Arab university system similar to the European and American university systems, to be an alternative to the group of Arab university systems that suffer the crisis of belonging and perhaps the absence of a unified Arab vision, provided that this proposed system is closely related to its society and takes into account the specificity of Arab universities based on this principle that unity in diversity is a source of strength.\n- In order to make the proposed Arab system more realistic and practical, a unified system for calculating grades must be devised to facilitate the movement of students between Arab universities, and this can be benefited from the European experience in this field (ECTs).\n- Benefit from the experience of the American system, which allows broad freedom of choice, based on the division of its teaching programs into secondary (optional) courses that can be added by the student from any of the departments, so that the student completes the number of hours required to obtain a bachelor’s degree, and an accurate specialization accounts for half number of credit hours.\n- Work to bridge the wide gap between the number of practical and theoretical hours, according to an equal percentage that is a binding reference in the teaching plan, as well as the case in the topic of design, journalistic production, electronic journalism, and other teaching subjects that suffer atrophy as revealed by studying the content analysis of the teaching plan of the selected sample.\nAs for the nature of the special study, it is necessary to develop procedural definitions for several terms to suit the nature of the study, as follows:\nCourses: From the procedural point of view, it means the academic or training courses approved in the teaching plan of the two departments of journalism, the study sample.\nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2021
