المستخلص: As mentioned in the preamble of the Constitution of UNESCO, “since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed”. Media may contribute efficiently. At the request of member countries, UNESCO has initiated Model Curricula for Journalism Education. Edited by four international experts, the organization’s regional bureaus held workshops to adapt the model curricula to local conditions. Rabat’s workshop worked for the adaptation of the UNESCO project to Maghreb countries. As teaching tools, the models curricula were welcomed, but they were limited. The major contemporary problems are poorly addressed. And media ethics is not well programmed. There were no international references and no prerequisites. The preliminary study of the major contemporary issues is necessary for the students’ general education. The reports of the League of Nations, UN, UNESCO, ITU and international NGOs on terrorism, human rights and democracy, and media issues could help journalism students understand international crisis and to editorialize news and facts ethically.
