بحثت في لفظة الوجه نفسها ومشتقاتها والألفاظ أو الجمل التى اقترنت بها لتبين هيئتها أو نوعها أو شكلها مثل الوجوه المسفرة، الوجوه العاملة، الوجوه الناصبة... وغيرها. وجرى تقسيم البحث على فصلين: الفصل الأول: الجذر وجه ومشتقاته، والفصل الثاني: أوصاف الوجه في القرآن الكريم، وقد ذكر الوجه ومشتقاته بمواضع عديدة كانت لها دلالات متنوعة مثل الدلالة على الوجه بمعنى العضو من أعضاء الجسد، ودلالة المحبة والميل العاطفي، ودلالة الذات، ودلالة الجلاء والحقيقة، ودلالة الدين والعمل والرضا والعبادة والمحبة وغيرها، ونعتت بعض من ألفاظ الوجوه ولاسيما ما ورد منها بصيغة الجمع (وجوه) بنعوت مختلفة، ولا نقصد بالنعت هنا الموقع الإعرابي وإنما الألفاظ أو الجمل التي اقترنت بلفظة الوجه لتبين هيئتها أو نوعها أو شكلها مثل الوجوه المسفرة، العاملة، الخاشعة، المغبرة، الناصبة، وغيرها، فجاء بعضها يصف حال المؤمنين وبعضها الآخر يصف حال الكافرين يوم القيامة، وتنوعت هذه الألفاظ والتراكيب اللغوية من الناحية الصرفية والدلالية وجاء إطلاقها على وجه الحقيقة أو المجاز بحسب السياق القرآني، كما وضحها البحث.
