Certes, la seule nécessité inhérente à la préface du roman de l’époque classique consiste à défendre le texte qu’elle escorte. Cette défense se fait notamment à travers des techniques de camouflage narratives qui consistent à nier la fictionnalité du texte publié. La fiction du manuscrit trouvé en est, peut-être, la plus récurrente, sinon la plus importante. Cependant, c’est à cause de sa topocité remarquable, et de sa complexité grandissante, que ce protocole de justification va jusqu’à se détourner de la valeur pragmatique qui lui est assignée au départ, et finit par être banalisé. The main function of the classic novel’s preface is to defend the accompaning text. This defence is reached via camouflage devices in narration that enveil the fictional aspect of the published text. The “found manuscript” is one of the most recurring and the most important literary techniques. However, this justifying protocol, with its outstanding topocity and high complexity, tends to shift from its initial pragmatic value and ends up being trivialized. |
