This study aimed at investigated the attitude of the students in the English language and Literature department at Mu'tah University towards note taking. The population of the study consisted of all the (male and female) students at English language and literature department at Mu'tah University, during the first semester for the academic year 2011/ 2012. The study sample consisted of (190) male and female students, a rate of 50% of the original community who registries in the second semester in the study year 2011/ 2012 in the English and literature department at M"utah University. This study attempted to answer the following question What is the attitude of the students of the English Language and Literature Department (EFL) at Mu'tah University towards the skill of note taking? Sub questions: 1- is there any statistically significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) of the attitude of the students in the English language and Literature department (EFL) at Mu'tah University towards the skill of note taking attributed to gender? 2- Is there any statistically significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05) of the attitude of the students in the English language and Literature department (EFL) at Mu'tah University towards the skill of note taking attributed the year of study? To achieve the purpose of the study, questionnaire of 33 items was designed and it was consisted of two domains respectively, taking notes during lectures, taking notes while reading. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined and ensured by using test-retest and Calculation of the equation of Cronbach alpha for each domain of study tool. As a result of the study that there are significant differences in the students' attitudes towards our taking notice, and these differences have been positive in favor of females and also for the benefit of years of advanced students majoring in English.
