إن العلاقات السعودية الإمارتية عريقة ووطيدة منذ قرون تاريخية عدة، وتحفل صفحات التاريخ بنماذج عديدة للتقارب والتحالف بين حكام المنطقتين والقبائل القاطنة فيهما، والتي ساهمت في صياغة الأحداث التاريخية خلال العقود الماضية، وأثرت بصورة واضحة في تنظيم المشهد السياسي لمنطقة الخليج العربي، فالتحالفات الإقليمية بين قادة المنطقة وقبائلها أثرت في ميزان القوى بين القبائل، والإمارات الخليجية فرجحت كفة على أخرى. يحاول هذا البحث إماطة اللثام عن صفحة من صفحات التحالف الخليجي والتي تعد شاهدا على عمق ومتانة الترابط التاريخي بين أبناء المنطقة، ويتناول أحد أهم التحالفات القائمة في مطلع القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي وهو التحالف القائم بين السعوديين وقبيلة النعيم حكام إمارة عجمان خلال فترة حكم الدولة السعودية الأولى (1744م/1818م) والذي ساهم في توحيد جبهة الحليفين ضد خصومهما، وزاد من نفوذهما وامتدادهما السياسي والجغرافي في منطقة الخليج العربي، علاوة على دوره في تقوية أواصر الترابط الاجتماعي بينهما.
