This paper presents a clinical illustration of an 8-year-old Algerian child, who has suffered a sexual assault and this by evaluating the effect of the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) on post-traumatic stress disorder, generated by this aggression. This treatment, developed in the United States, is specially designed for children who have experienced a traumatic event, and it involves the parent's participation. To do this, we used the fifth version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a Child Post-Traumatic Stress-Reaction Index (CPTS-RI), and a semi-structured interview, with the mother and the child. The assessment was done before and after the treatment. The results show a significant reduction in post-traumatic symptoms of the child after therapy, obtained verbalization skills and the expression of ideas and emotions relating to sexual abuse, without experiencing significant distress.
