المستخلص: يهدف البحث إلى تحليل الاستخدامات الخاصة لعلامات الترقيم في رواية "العزبة". تبدأ الدراسة بالإشارة للخصائص النحوية لعلامات الترقيم، ثم يتبعها تحليل نحوي دلالي لعلامات الترقيم في الرواية تحليلا مدعما بآراء اللغويين وبأمثلة من الرواية. من خلال التحليل نلاحظ استخدام الكاتب المفرط لعلامات الترقيم، ولاسيما استخدامه للفصلة المنقوطة في غير مواضعها، ومن ذلك استخدامها للفصل بين الصفة والموصوف، وبين الفاعل والمفعول، وبين الجملة الرئيسة والجملة التابعة وخاصة جملة الصلة وكذا بين الجمل المعطوفة، كما يغلب على أسلوب الكاتب استخدام الفصلة المنقوطة لفصل الجزء الأخير من الجملة لإبرازه وإلقاء الضوء عليه. كما نلاحظ تقطيع الكاتب للجمل باستخدام علامات الترقيم ولذلك نلاحظ أن الجمل قصيرة ويغلب عليها العطف.

The research aims to analyze the special uses of punctuation in "The Farm". The study starts with the grammatical elements for the punctuation, followed by a grammatical semantic analysis for the punctuation used in the novel, an analysis provided by the opinions of linguistics and by examples from the text itself. Its noticed, via the analysis the use of the writer to punctuation which he uses excessively particularly his use of the semi-colon not in its right place, to be used to separate between the adjective and the noun and between the subject and the object and between the main sentence and subordinate clause particularly the relative clause and between the co¬ordinate sentences. The predominant style of the writer is his excessive use of the semi¬colon to separate the last part of the sentence to shed light on it. It is also noticeable the fragmentation of the writer to the sentence by his use of punctuation. For that reason, we notice that the sentences are short and predominant by coordination.
