|a أدب الرحلة رافد من روافد الأدب العربي؛ يقوم فيه الرحالة بوصف دقيق لما يشاهده من عادات وتقاليد وسلوكيات الشعوب المختلفة؛ يعد إبداع "شمس وليل" من أعمال محمود تيمور التجريبية؛ إذ يحشد فيها صورا وصفية كثيرة لرحلته إلى السويد استوحاها الكاتب من رؤيته للواقع، والطبيعة الخلابة. وظف محمود تيمور الوصف بطريقة تنقل المكان وكأنه انعكاس للواقع؛ من خلال استخدام اللون-بدرجاته المختلفة-والصوت والحركة.

|b Expedition Literature is an important component of the Arabic literature. In that type of literature, the author records detailed customs and behaviors of different peoples. Shams Wa Leil is one of Taymour’s works in which he gathered a lot of descriptive images for his travelling to Sweden. That descriptive image comes out by the writer through the splendid nature and his own observation. Mahmoud Taymour devoted the descriptive images to mention the place as a reflection of the real life through allocating voice, motion and different grades of colour.
