In recent years, supply chain management (SCM) has received substantial attention from academics and practitioners. This research argued that, the oil and gas industry as the main source of energy supply is considered as the lifeblood of the world economy, making it an essential input in the processes of producing almost all products and services around the globe. The reason why the researcher has chosen this sector is that, the link between the current trend of Egypt and its pursuit of its strategic objective of transforming it into a regional energy center - the development and modernization of the petroleum sector as the main engine of the remaining sectors. Nevertheless high levels of uncertainty and the dynamic nature of the oil and gas industry have resulted in enormous challenges and created rigid supply chain linkages throughout the industry. The main objective of this study is to examine the direct impact of supply chain integration and operational performance (namely; process quality, process flexibility and process lead-time) on the petroleum sector in Egypt. Supply chain integration was chosen as it leads to organizational performance especially operational performance in achieving competitive advantage. A quantitative approach using structural equation modeling is used to test the research hypotheses. Data was collected using a questionnaire survey and explored using statistical techniques. Findings revealed that supply chain integration reveals a positive significant impact on operational performance. These results add theoretical and practical contributions to the field of operations management and organizational studies are provided.
