Libya represents a current arena of conflict between Turkey and Egypt and the turning point in the position and place of both countries in the regional sphere. Turkey is behaving as the heir of the Ottoman Empire, and it has become a regional power through its intervention in many of the region’s conflicts, from Syria to its standing in the crisis between the Gulf states alongside Qatar, and before that, its military presence in Somalia. And finally, its entry as a major player in the Libyan crisis. As for Egypt, which was considered the one-time leader of the Arab world, and for Africa - for a long time, the center of the spiritual strength of Sunni Islam, and the main Arab hero against Israel and in the struggle for the liberation of Palestine, from the Nakba in 1948 until its signing of the Camp David Accords in the late 1970s. Its influence is diminishing with the recent Turkish intervention in Libya because it is now facing an unenviable equation between unbalanced capabilities for confrontation and the possibilities of imposing a battle on it that it may not be able to evade. تمثل ليبيا ساحة صراع حاليًا بين تركيا ومصر، ونقطة التحول في موقع ومكانة كل من الدولتين في المجال الإقليمي. فتركيا تتصرف على أنها وريث الإمبراطورية العثمانية، وقد باتت قوة إقليمية عبر تدخلها في كثير من صراعات المنطقة، من سورية إلى وقوفها في الأزمة بين دول الخليج إلى جانب قطر، وقبل ذلك وجودها العسكري في الصومال. وأخيرًا دخولها كلاعب رئيسي في الأزمة الليبية. أما مصر التي كانت تُعتبر زعيمة العالم العربي لمرة واحدة، ولأفريقيا – لفترة طويلة، ومركز القوة الروحية للإسلام السني، والبطل العربي الرئيسي في مواجهة إسرائيل وفي النضال من أجل تحرير فلسطين، منذ النكبة في سنة 1948 حتى توقيعها اتفاقيات كامب ديفيد في أواخر السبعينيات، فإن نفوذها يزداد تقلصًا مع التدخل التركي الأخير في ليبيا، بحيث إنها باتت تجد نفسها أمام معادلة لا تُحسد عليها، بين قدرات غير متوازنة للمواجهة، واحتمالات فرض معركة عليها قد لا تكون قادرة على التملص منها.
