|b In the 29th of July 2020, the royal will has decreed holding the 19th parliamentary election. On account to the royal will, commissioners of Independent Election Commission (IEC) have declared the 10th of November 2020 to be the day. The elections have been held in an unprecedented exceptional health circumstances, due to Covid-19 pandemic. Despite lEC’s efforts in providing safe polling stations, elections have been met poorly by the citizens. This report provides an analytical and statistical perusal for the 2020 parliamentary outcomes. It states that the elections have recorded a 70% reluctance among who has the right to proceed to the ballot boxes, despite all efforts expended by the IEC and the government encouraging citizens to vote. The elections have also experienced a drastic drop in voting percentage within the largest governorates; Amman, Az Zarqa’ and Irbid. 2020’s parliamentary election has witnessed great political parties’ participation when being compared to 2016 elections. Despite that, its outcomes were very humble. 4 of 41 political parties only have managed to secure seats in the lower house of the Jordanian parliament. As for women candidates, the report has affirmed the definite drop witnessed. Not a single woman has secured a seat other than the quota system. However, in 2016, 5 women have competed and managed to secure their seats. Moreover, % of the late house representatives has failed to keep their seats. Outcomes have shown that 98 representatives are new to the house, which means % of the lower house now doesn’t have a parliamentary experience. The report has deduced that the entire outcome points out a behavior which can be described by a punishment the citizens have brought down on everybody everywhere; starting with the official institutions (the government and the independent body) by its 70% reluctance, passing by the late house of representatives, ending with women, parties and tribes. At the end, it concluded with a sum of recommendations capsulated in inviting people to read the election’s outcomes thoroughly, study the causes behind those outcomes, and adjuring the independent body to maximize its efforts in constricting the phenomena of buying votes which has spread widely during the elections.
