المستخلص: Title: The division of the chapters of the Qur’an into tuwal, mi’een, mathaani, and mufassal, and explaining the basis for this division and its meaning, and the virtue of these divisions of the chapters of the Qur’an, and specifying the chapters that fall under each division and the sayings of the scholars on their meanings and their identification, which is a topic that has not gotten the sufficient attention in research and study, and its relationship with the issue of division and arrangement of the Qur'an remains in need of proper clarification and explanation. Objectives: To compile the sayings and opinions of scholars which are erstwhile scattered in books of qiraa'aat and sciences of the Qur’an ،and annotations of hadith and language ،by identifting their historical sequence, studying them and identifying the authentic ones among them and the untrue ones in terms of meaning and chain of narrators. Methodology: I used throughought the research: the method of induction, tracking, and analysis of opinions and their historical sequence. Findings: Uncovering the authentic ones among the sayings of the past scholars among the companions and those who succeeded them regarding the meanings of the division of the chapters of the Qur’an into tuwal, mi’een, mathaani, and mufassal, and specifying its chapters, and the possibility of categorizing the Qur’an according to this division or not.

موضوع البحث: تقسيم سور القرآن إلى طول ومئين ومثاني ومفصل، وبيان مستند هذا التقسيم ومعناه، وفضل هذه الأقسام من سور القرآن، وتحديد سور كل قسم وأقوال العلماء في معانيها وتحديدها، وهو موضوع لم ينل حظه الكافي من البحث والدراسة، وبقيت علاقته مع مسألة تحزيب القرآن ومسألة ترتيبه مفتقرة إلى توضيح وبيان. يهدف البحث: إلى الوقوف على أقوال وآراء العلماء المتناثرة في كتب القراءات وعلوم القرآن وشروح الحديث واللغة، ومعرفة تسلسلها تاريخيا، ودراستها ومعرفة ما يصح منها وما لا يصح معنى وسندا. وسلكت في البحث: منهج الاستقراء والتتبع والتحليل للأقوال وتسلسلها تاريخيا. ومن نتائجه: معرفة الصحيح من أقوال السلف من الصحابة والتابعين في معاني تقسيم سور القرآن إلى طول ومئين ومثاني ومفصل، وتحديد سوره، وإمكانية تحزيب القرآن وفق هذا التقسيم من عدمه.
