This research aims to study the term "ή άρετή", because of its containing the moral and educational meanings. The moral and educational meanings had won a great minding of the ancient Greek thought. And Ancient Greek writers had shown keen interest in employing the term ’’virtue ή άρετή" in their writings, and they had shown many meanings and denotations, which varied according to the social and political variables. And this research had studied and analyzed those meanings in different genres of the Greek literary writings, through epics of Homer and Hesiod, And through the lyrical poetry and the odes of Pindar. The research had studied the term "ή άρετή" in the Greek tragic plays. Finally, the search had stopped lengthy to study the development and understanding’s the philosophical writings for this term, and how the Greek philosophers Socrates and Plato and Aristotle had developed this term to have the ethical and educational connotations. This research had shown the desire of the philosophical writings to determine what this term and its definition, and tried to know is the Virtue acquired and learned or innate and natural in the human beings? The research had come finally to the conclusion that the term "ή άρετή" had varied meanings depending on the gender of the literary writings which had influenced by the social and political customs. This term had the meaning of the courage and strong physical in the Homeric epics, then in Hesiod it was incitation for the work, and it had tied with the meanings of justice, law and glory, finally, it means the virtue. In the end of this research, we can define the virtue "ή άρετή": it is the inherent force in a person, which enable him to perform his deeds well, and to distinguish between bad and good things, and the virtuous one who can do that.
