المستخلص: Le présent article a pour objectif d’analyser la relation entre la consommation d’énergie et la croissance économique en Algérie pour la période 1980-2014 en utilisant la méthodologie d’ARDL, afin de déterminer ses implications en termes de politiques économiques, Les résultats empiriques confirment la présence d’une relation à long terme entre la croissance économique par habitant et la consommation d’énergie par habitant. En outre, l’estimation de la relation à long terme montre d’une augmentation de 1% de la croissance économique par habitant entrainait une augmentation de 2.10 % de la consommation d’énergie par habitant, Par ailleurs, le test de causalité de Toda Yamamoto indique l’existence d’une causalité unidirectionnelle dans le sens de la croissance économique par habitant vers la consommation d’énergie par habitant, en d’autres termes, plus de croissance économique entraine un accroissement de consommation d’énergie.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Algeria for the period 1980-2014 using the ARDL methodology, in order to determine its implications in terms of economic policies. Empirical results confirm the presence of a long-term relationship between per capita economic growth and per capita energy consumption. In addition, the estimation of the long-term relationship shows that a 1% increase in economic growth per capita resulted in a 2.10% increase in energy consumption per capita. Furthermore, Toda's causality test Yamamoto indicates the existence of a unidirectional causality in the direction of economic growth per capita towards energy consumption per capita, in other words, more economic growth leads to an increase in energy consumption.
