يسعى المنهج البيني إلى تحقيق أربعة أهداف أساسية هي دمج المعرفة، والإبداع في طريق التفكير، وتحقيق التكامل، وإنتاج المعرفة. تلك الأهداف التي تبلورت بصورة جلية في فكر "جمال حمدان"، وخاصة مؤلف شخصية مصر، فقد استطاع من خلال "شخصية مصر: دراسة في عبقرية المكان" أن يحدد القسمات الواضحة في الشخصية المصرية بأنها فلتة جغرافية نادرة لها عمقها الاستراتيجي، وموقعها السياسي، وموضعها الحضاري الذي يحمل بين طياته تفاعلات الإنسان المصري مع البيئة عبر التاريخ من خلال تبنيه للرؤية البينية محققا للأهداف الأربعة سابقة الذكر، فشخصية مصر عنده "لا تتسبب إلي ما يسمى بالجغرافية التقليدية، وإنما ترتفع إلى رؤية عمرانية استراتيجية شاملة تبدأ من الواقع الجغرافي الطبيعي لتمتد فتشمل مختلف القضايا الإنسانية والاقتصادية والإقليمية والسياسية والاجتماعية والثقافية"، ومن هنا يسعى هذا البحث من خلال مشروع "جمال حمدان" الحضاري المتكامل المتميز عن الشخصية المصرية أن يرصد ملامح البينية في فكره، وتتبلور إشكالية البحث في تساؤل رئيسي مهم مؤداه: كيف وظف "جمال حمدان" المنهج البيني في دراسته للشخصية الإقليمية المصرية؟
