Against her, the child, sentinel of memory, will cross the century, an innocent and lucid witness to the exactions, spoliations and deliberate enterprises of deculturation. "" M. Bey, Pierre sang papier oucendre, 2008 The aim of this contributory paper is to remind the reader that the Algerian literature in french,be it of the first generation (M. Dib, M. Ferraoun, M. Mammeri, A. Djebar) or of the more recent generation (Maissa Bey or again Kamel Daoud) has demonstrated the manner in which humanity has woven, by the agency of writing, a tapestry where space, History and society are intertwined. How can a painful colonial past, that of the Algerian war, continue to constitute a pretext for fiction today? My remarks pertain to these transcribed words that novelist Maissa Bey recounts, with no hatred nor forgiveness, through writing-testimonies and autofiction. It is through the novels Entendez-vous dans les montagne (2002) and Pierre Sang Papier ou Cendre (2008) that the author chooses to ""fictionalize"" the violence of colonization and the horrors of the Algerian war, stories which will be the subject of this presentation."

"« Pendant 132 ans, et après plus de 40 ans d’opérations de pacification, MADAME LAFRANCE s’est installée sur ses terres, pour y dispenser ses lumières et y répandre la civilisation, au nom du droit et du devoir des races supérieures. Face à elle, l’enfant, sentinelle de la mémoire, va traverser le siècle, témoin à la fois innocent et lucide des exactions, des spoliations et des entreprises délibérées de déculturation. M. Bey, Pierre sang papier ou cendre, 2008 Par cette intervention contributive, je voudrai rappeler que la littérature algérienne d’expression française, qu’elle soit de la première génération (M. Dib, M. Ferraoun, M. Mammeri, A. Djebar) ou celle plus récente (Maissa Bey ou encore Kamel Daoud) a montré comment l’humanité a tissé, par le biais de l’écriture, un entrecroisement entre: espace, histoire et société. Comment un passé colonial douloureux, celui de la guerre d’Algérie, peut-il constituer encore de nos jours un prétexte à des fictions? Mon propos portera sur ces paroles consignées à travers écriture-témoignage et autofiction dont la romancière Maissa Bey rend compte, sans haine mais également sans pardon. C’est à travers les romans Entendez-vous dans les montagnes (2002) et Pierre Sang Papier ou Cendre (2008) que l’auteur a choisi de «fictionnaliser» la violence de la colonisation et les affres de la guerre d’Algérie, récits qui feront l’objet de notre communication"
