|a لا نريد أن نناقش أهمية التعليم، حتى عد التعليم بوابة عصر المعرفة، إن بداية التقدم الحقيقية؛ بل والوحيدة هي التعليم، وأن كل الدول التي تقدمت من بوابة التعليم، بل إن الدول المتقدمة نفسها تضع التعليم في أولوية برامجها وسياستها.\nويبقى جوهر الصراع العالمي اليوم هو العمل على تطوير التعليم، في ظل الانفجار المعرفي الذي يشهده العالم، وأن التنافس الذي يجرى في العالم هو تنافس تعليمي حول جودة التعليم.\nوالتقدم العلمي والمعرفي الذي تنشده الجامعات مرتهن بمصاقية البحث العلمي والتحكم في العلم والمعرفة.\nإن تطور وتيرة البحث العلمي في العالم يفرض علينا أن نتحرك بسرعة وفاعلية، لنلحق بقطار البحث العلمي وإلا مضى وتركنا في بقعة التخلف.\nوالجامعات هي أرفع المؤسسات التعليمية التي يمكن أن تلعب دورا أساسيا في تحريك تنمية أي بلد من البلدان التي تنشد الرقي والتقدم.
