القارئ المتأمل في كتاب سيبويه يلحظ أن صاحبه كان يحاول أن يربط ربطا دقيقا بين موضوعاته التي اتفقت في وجه أو أكثر، ولما كانت موضوعات النحو تتضام تحت عنوانات كثيرة فقد حاول سيبويه الاعتماد على أوجه الاتفاق لوضع قاعدة عامة ينضوي تحتها أكثر من باب من أبواب النحو المتعددة. فسيبويه كان حريصا على الوصول إلى تلك الخيوط العالمة التي تربط أكثر من بابا من أبواب النحو المختلفة، وهذا واضح جدا في بابا المنصوبات (التمييز والحال) وكذلك في باب ما يمن من الصرف. وبالجملة فقل أن تجد موضوعا في كتاب سيبويه إلا وقد ألحقه سيبويه بغيره لجامع بينهما. وهنا تتبدى لنا الروابط الخفية التي عول عليها سيبويه في إيضاح المادة النحوية المنثورة في كتابه. هدف سيبويه أن يأتي الدرس النحوي مفهوما واضحا، فقد عمد إلى عنصر الاستطراد، ومناقشة أكثر من باب في آن واحد، لجامع بينهما، فتراه يخلط خلطا واضحا بين كثير من الأبواب النحوية التي عرفت تحديدا مغايرا عند أكثر النحاة التالين لسيبويه، فتراه يخلط الحال بالتمييز بالصفة، ويجمع بين الاسم العامل عمل الفعل وبين التوابع ذلك أن التدرج في عرض الأبواب النحوية سيما تلك التي تتسم بقدر من الطول وكثرة التفصيلات له عظيم الأثر في تسهيل وتقريب الباب النحوي، فتراه يذكر الباب في كثير من المواضع تارة مختصرا مقتضبا، ثم تراه يعرضه بعد ذلك عرضا مستفيضا، فكأنما يوطئ للباب ويمهد له بذكر لمحة مختصرة عنه، حتى إذا ما تنبه القارئ إلى ذلك، وأنه سيقع عليه مفصلا مشروحا واضحا، أحدث ذلك تشوفا ورغبة في الإلمام بالباب.
The reader of al-Kitab by Sibawayh notes that its author was trying to accurately link its subjects that were agreed in one or more ways. Since the subjects of grammar were combined under many headings, Sibawayh tried to rely on the agreements to establish a general rule under which more than one of the many sections of grammar was included. Sibawayh was keen to reach those universal threads that connect more than one chapter from different chapters of grammar. This is very clear in the two chapters of Mansoobat; Tamyiz (Disambiguation) and Haal (Circumstantial Adverb), as well as in the chapter of Mamnoo' min al-Sarf ( indeclinable noun). It is always found in al-Kitab by Sibawayh that almost all subjects have been attached with other subjects due to something common between them. Here, the hidden links emerge that Sibawayh relied upon in clarifying the grammatical material published in his book. Sibawayh's goal is that the grammatical lesson comes with a clear concept. He relied on digression and discussed more than one chapter at the same time due to something common between them. We find him making a clear mix between many grammatical chapters that have been defined differently by most grammarians who came after him. We find him mixing Tamyiz with Haal and Sifah (adjective), and combining al-Ism al-Aamil (factor noun), Amal al-Aamil (the act of factor noun), and between Tawabi' (a noun that follows the I'rab of the previous known). The gradation in the presentation of grammatical chapters, especially those characterized by some length and frequent details, greatly facilitates and brings the grammar chapter closer. We find him mentioning a chapter at many places, sometimes briefly, and then we see him giving it an extensive presentation as if he steps on the chapter and gives a brief overview of it, even if it alerts the reader to that.
