المستخلص: Hizya of MaïssaBey exposes an essential problem for Algerian society: the norms that govern it. Thus, the present paper will highlight in this novel, through the female characters, not only the marginal position of women in a society weighed down by the weight of social chains, but above all what the marginality of woman does with social norms that make her visible but kept away. To do this, the article will be based on gender studies or “feminist studies”, while describing the sociological conditions marking contemporary Algerian society. Whether they have the choice between acting on their own will or subverting the social norm, the female characters end up reclaiming the norm of fear of the family and social sanction.

Hizya de Maïssa Bey pose un problème essentiel pour la société algérienne: celui des normes qui la régissent. Ainsi, le présent papier y mettra en lumière, à travers les personnages féminins, non seulement à la situation marginale de la femme dans une société alourdie par le poids des chaines sociales mais surtout ce que la marginalité de la femme fait des normes sociales qui font d’elle un objet visible mais tenu à l’écart. Pour ce faire, l’article se basera sur les Genderstudies ou « études féministes », tout en décrivant les conditions sociologiques marquant la société algérienne contemporaine. Qu’ils ont le choix entre agir en fonction de leur propre volonté ou subvertir la norme sociale, les personnages féminins finissent par se réapproprier la norme de peur de la sanction familiale et sociale.
