المستخلص: تدور فكرة هذا البحث حول دراسة الشخصية (شخصية البطل) باعتبارها عنصر هام من عناصر الرواية فالبطل هو الشخصية الرئيسية والمحورية في العمل الأدبي سواء كانت هذه الشخصية جيدة يحتذى بها أو سيئة يبتعد عنها والكاتب أو الروائي هو الذي يجعل منه شخصية رئيسية وذلك من خلال دراسة روايات الأديبين نجيب محفوظ وديستوفيسكي دراسة تحليلية بالمقارنة والوقوف على أوجه التشابه والاختلاف بينهما. وصورة البطل في الرواية هي وليدة ظروف سياسية واجتماعية وبيئية وثقافية وهذه الظروف تساهم في إعطاء الشخصية أبعاد داخلية وخارجية نظرا لاختلاف صفات الأبطال من مكان إلى آخر كما تتنوع خصائص البطل في الرواية بين الشكل والمضمون فالبطل يعبر عن فلسفة الفرد من حيث الشكل والجوهر لأنه يمثل الشخصية الأولى في العمل الأدبي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك أهمية التعرف على مدى تأثر الأدب الروسي بالثقافة العربية ومكانة هذا الأدب بين الآداب العالمية ودراسة التأثير المتبادل بين الأدب والثقافة العربية ونظيره الأدب والثقافة الروسية من خلال إبراز أوجه التشابه والاختلاف بين الثقافتين وانعكاس ذلك في الأعمال الأدبية. ولقد جاء هذا البحث في فصل تمهيدي وأربعة فصول ثم خاتمة بأهم وأبرز ما توصلت إليه الباحثة من نتائج هذا البحث.

The idea of this research paper revolves around studying the personality (protagonist's personality), as an essential factor in the novel. The protagonist is the main and central character in the literary work, whether this character represents a positive role model or a negative evil figure that should be avoided. The author or novelist is the one who makes this character main and principal. This shall be revealed through the analytic study of novels written by Naguib Mahfouz and Dostoevsky, by comparing and contrasting similarities and differences between novels written by both authors. The image of the protagonist in the novel is the product of cultural, environmental, social and political circumstances. Such circumstances contribute to granting the character external and internal dimensions, due to the difference of protagonists' features from one place to another. In addition, the characteristic features of the protagonist in a given novel varies between appearance and reality. That is to say, the protagonist represents the person's philosophy in appearance and essence, as it represents the main character in the literary work. Moreover, it is significant to identify the extent of the Arabian Culture influence to Russian Literature, and the position of such culture amongst World literatures, and studying the mutual influence between Arab culture and literature on the one hand and its Russian counterpart, through revealing similarities and differences between both cultures and how this is reflected in literary works. This research paper is presented in an introductory chapter and other four chapters, and ends up with a conclusion that combines the most prominent results that the researcher achieved.
