المستخلص: The definition of the historical novel is a major problem and is the main topic of the novel that we ought to study. In this novel, the writer raised problems related to the historical story and explained the relationship between fiction and history. The novel highlighted the stages of the writing process that rely on scientific research and literary handling to understand historical events. The writer then highlighted the social role of historical writing because it represents a collective memory aimed at preserving traditional values that are indispensable in identification at a stage of continuous change. The novel provided another principle of reading history, i.e., paying attention to historical figures and highlighting aspects of their private lives. The writer has resorted to imagination to revive these characters, and that is why he believes that there is no conflict between history and imagination because they complement each other. However, the writer remains suspicious in every real presentation of official history because the political and social context of each literary work deprives the writer of the independence and subjectivity of the writing. يشكل تعريف الرواية التاريخية إشكالية كبرى وهو الموضوع الأساسي لرواية بحثنا هذا. فقد أثار الكاتب من خلالها المشاكل المتعلقة بالحكاية التاريخية وأوضح العلاقة بين الخيال والتاريخ. وسلطت الرواية الضوء على مراحل عملية الكتابة التي تعتمد على البحث العلمي والتناول الأدبي لفهم الأحداث التاريخية. ثم أبرز الكاتب الدور الاجتماعي للكتابة التاريخية لكونها تمثل ذاكرة جماعية تهدف إلى الحفاظ على القيم التقليدية التي لا غنى عنها في تحديد الهوية في مرحلة من التغيير مستمر. وقدمت الرواية مبدأ أخر لقراءة التاريخ ألا وهو الاهتمام بالشخصيات التاريخية وإبراز جوانب حياتهم الخاصة. وقد لجأ الكاتب إلى الخيال لإحياء هذه الشخصيات ولهذا السبب يرى أنه لا تعارض بين التاريخ والخيال لأنهم يكملان بعضهما بعضا. لكن يظل الكاتب مرتابا في كل عرض حقيقي للتاريخ الرسمي لأن السياق السياسي والاجتماعي لكل عمل أدبي يحرم الكاتب من استقلالية الكتابة وذاتيتها.

La problématique de la définition du roman historique est l'objet de notre roman. L'auteur y soulève les problèmes inhérents au récit historique et porte un nouvel éclairage sur les rapports entre la fiction et l'histoire. Le roman met en lumière le processus de l'écriture qui s'appuie sur un travail scientifique et une approche poétique pour comprendre l'histoire. L'auteur a souligné ensuite le rôle social de l'écriture historique qui devient un acte de mémoire collective destinée à garder les valeurs traditionnelles indispensables pour définir une identité en pleine mutation. Le roman propose un autre principe d'écriture historique : s'intéresser aux figures historiques et mettre en valeurs les aspects de leur vie intimes. L'auteur recourt à la fiction pour donner vie à ces personnages. C'est pourquoi toute opposition entre histoire et fiction est éloignée car ils se complètent. Mais l'auteur reste sceptique vers toute représentation authentique de l'Histoire officielle car le contexte politique et social privent tout écrivain de l'autonomie de son écriture.
