يحظى التعليم الجامعي في الكويت بأهمية كبيرة، مردها مجموعة من العوامل تمثل الثقافة، والبيئة، والاقتصاد والسياسة أهمها، فهناك أعداداً كبيرة من الطلاب الذين يلتحقون بالجامعات بهدف تحسين أوضاعهم الثقافية والاجتماعية، فيما تمثل أعداد الطلاب التي تلتحق بقسم التربية الفنية، كلية التربية الأساسية، بعد إجراء اختبار اللياقة والقدرات للالتحاق بالقسم والذي يفتقد إلى اختبار الثقافة البصرية لدى الطلاب المتقدمين، ويتركز حول مدى ملائمة الطلاب خصوصاً نحو المقررات العملية، والذي يعد واقعاً ملموساً في القسم، ويمثل بدوره انعكاساً لمجموعة من المشكلات التربوية يعتبر التعثر الأكاديمي وتدني مستوى الثقافة البصرية أهمها على الإطلاق في الوقت الحالي، والذي قد يؤثر بدوره على مستوى الأداء الأكاديمي للطلاب وخصوصاً فيما يتعلق بالمقررات الدراسية النظرية بالقسم، سواء من حيث الرسوب أو الإنذار أو الحرمان أو عدد السنوات التي يقضيها بعض الطلاب بالكلية أو القسم حتى تخرجهم. ويهدف البحث إلى دراسة الأسباب والعوامل الكامنة خلف تنامي مشكلة التعثر الأكاديمي بالقسم، فضلاً عن تدني مستوى الثقافة البصرية لدى الطلاب الملتحقين الجدد، أو غيرهم من السنوات التالية بغرض إيجاد الحلول المنطقية لكلا المشكلتين في ضوء استراتيجيات حل المشكلات في الميادين التربوية.
