المستخلص: The novel, apart from other literary genres, has the capacity to absorb various human experiences, to denote different identities, and to cross cultural boundaries without fear of being hindered to achieve its ambitions. The flexibility of its structure has provided it with the ability to do so. Hence, the novel is fleshed out with its cultural backgroung references; therefore, became subject to changes, and unstable in its form. Hence, lead to the assortment of its issues, shaped with varied functions. Thoroughly, it has developed a capacity to diversify methods and forms. Then, the novel has developed by extending its scope, mainly when it representatively stands as a medium to cultures of nations, and depicts the social conditions. Unsatisfied with that duty, the novel intriguingly questions the realms of its existing body, as well as the social and moral systems. The novel transcends the function of depiction to representation that gathers fragments of events that do not reflect necessarily a pure reality; hence, it reconstructs them to reveal its insights. Novelists' deceits are not to be trusted in their wicked narratives, since they are not intended to reflect truthfully their background references; they rather allusively pretend the faithfulness of narrative facts over historical facts. These are the basic functions of narrative in making its core subjects with reference to its scope to lure the reader to approve of it.

لعل الرواية، من دون سواها من الأنواع الأدبية، لها الكفاءة في استيعاب التجارب الإنسانية المختلفة، وتمثيل الهويات المتباينة، وعبور الحدود الثقافية من غير خوف أن تتعرض للإعاقة في مسعاها، فطابع المرونة في مبناها، وفر لها القدرة على ذلك، فالرواية تلبس لبوس مرجعياتها الثقافية، لذلك صارت قابلة للمتغيرات، وما ثبت شكلها على حال، وتعددت قضاياها، وتنوعت وظائفها، وبمرور الوقت، طورت قابلية في تنويع أساليبها، وأشكالها. ثم أنها دفعت بنفسها إلى ما هو أكثر من ذلك، حينما حملت معها الهويات الثقافية للأمم، وقامت بتمثيل الأحوال الاجتماعية. وما اكتفت بذلك، بل أخذت في حسبانها مساءلة العوالم التي ظهرت فيها، بما في ذلك الأنظمة الاجتماعية والأخلاقية. وتخطت الرواية وظيفة التصوير إلى التمثيل الذي يستجمع شذرات من الأحداث، ولا يعكس واقعاً صرفاً، فيتولى تركيبها بما يفصح عن أحوالها. وعلى الرغم من ذلك، فلا ينبغي تصديق الخدع التي يرميها الروائيون في تضاعيف رواياتهم، فهي لا تتوخى قول الحقيقة القائمة في العالم المرجعي، إنما تعميق الإيهام بصدق وقائع سردية وليس وقائع تاريخية، وتلك من الوظائف الأساسية التي يقوم بها السرد في تركيب المادة الحكائية، وربطها بالعالم المرجعي، واستدراج القارئ إلى التصديق بها.
