المستخلص: الهدف من هذا البحث هو تقديم عرض مفصل لخصائص النظام الصحي في الجزائر. وسوف يتم التعامل مع محورين مركزيين، وهما: تطور السياسة الصحية الوطنية، وواقع قطاع الصحة والذي يشمل كل من المؤشرات الديموغرافية والوبائية، وتطوير البيئة التحتية، والعاملين الصحيين، وقطاع الأدوية، وتمويل القطاع الصحي. وسوف نناقش أيضا بعض السمات المحددة التي تميز بها النظام الصحي الجزائري خلال العقود الخمسة الأخيرة، مثل الرعاية الصحية المجانية، وبرامج الوقاية، والفوارق في الحصول على الرعاية الصحية.

The objective of this research is to describe in detail the characteristics of the Algerian health system. Two central questions will be treated: the genesis of the national health policy, and the situation that encompasses demo-epidemiological indicators, infrastructure development, health personnel, drug supply, and budget for the health sector. We will also discuss some distinctive and specific features that have characterized the Algerian health system during the last five decades; such as: free healthcare, prevention programs, and disparities in access to care.

L'objectif de cette recherche est de décrire de manière détaillée les caractéristiques du système de santé algérien. Deux questions centrales seront traitées, à savoir: la genèse de la politique nationale de santé, et l’état des lieux qui englobe les indicateurs démo-épidémiologiques, le développement de l’infrastructure, le personnel de santé, l’approvisionnement en médicaments, et le financement du secteur de la santé. Nous aborderons également quelques traits distinctifs et spécifiques qui ont caractérisé le système de santé algérien durant les cinq dernières décennies; tels que: la gratuité des soins, les programmes de prévention, et les disparités dans l’accès aux soins.
