The cultural practices in the Muslim community in Malaysia are diverse and part of it are similar to the Sunnah as practiced by the Prophet PBUH. The term ‘Sunnah’ refers to something taken from the Prophet PBUH. This article aims to examine and study some of the cultural practices in the Muslim community in Malaysia that are related to or similar to the Sunnah as suggested by the Prophet PBUH. Through inductive and deductive analysis, the assessment of the cultural practices on eating and medical aspects are made out by understanding and discussing the relevant hadith. The study shows that the cultural practices in the aspects of eating are ‘kenduri’ culture or food feeding and issues on prophetic foods. Whereas in the aspect of medical, the practice of culture is the use of incantation (ruqyah), the use of medicinal substances such as water, jujube leaves and salt in the treatment of diseases. It is undeniable that although it has become the cultural practices, for as long as it does not violate the Islamic law, the practices are not prohibited and permissible to be practiced.
