المستخلص: تهدف الدراسة التالية إلى تبيان رمزية المرأة المسيحية في الأدبيات البريطانية خلال العهد العثماني. وقد أشارت هاته الأدبيات دائما إلى المرأة الأسيرة على أنها "امرأة مسيحية شجاعة"، قاومت أعداء الدين المسيحي. حاولت الأدبيات البريطانية دائما إظهار استطاعة الأمة البريطانية الحفاظ على هويتها رغم "الاستعباد" الذي كان يتعرض له مواطنوها تحت وطأة ما سمتهم "الأتراك والمغاربة الهمجيون".
