المستخلص: The identity of the state is one of the vital foundations for its establishment and social and economic success among countries; the governments of the states are interested in establishing them among the members of society in order to advance it among other nations. The Libyan state is a country that suffers from a loss of national identity, not mislaying of it, it is historically rooted and has its own political limits, rather, it suffers from tribalism, regionalism, and sectarianism, which defines the sub-national identity, it also suffers from external currents represented in external thoughts, whether religious or civilized, doctrines and cultural thoughts come from outside. The Libyan national identity went through many historical stages, from the Italian rule, the era of the kingdom and the era of the republic until the February 17 revolution. These eras did not work to consolidate the Libyan national identity, but rather used it in its interest only. The perspective of the Libyan national identity is linked to the strengthening of the national economy, and the Libyan citizen is its pivot. Consolidating tolerance among the people of the same nation and denouncing violence and hate speech, this can only be achieved by building a strong educational structure and purposeful media that serve the national identity.
