يضم بحث البطالة مفهومها ... أنواعها، بطالة الخريجين أنموذجا مقدمة تناولت فيها الباحثة مشكلة البطالة كونها خطرة على المجتمع، كما أنها تزايد حجمها عام بعد عام يعد إهدار واضح للقدرات البشرية، كما تناولت أهمية البحث كونه يتطرق إلى مشكلة البطالة ومفهومها ومحاولة إيجاد الحلول لها، ثم جاءت أهداف البحث التي حددتها الباحثة بالتعرف على مشكلة البطالة وأسبابها ونتائجها وتقديم الصورة الحقيقية لوضع العاطلين عن العمل من الخريجين والإفصاح عن الكيفية التي تعامل بها الخريج للحصول على فرصة عمل توفر له حياة كريمة. واعتمدت الباحثة على استخدام استمارة استبيان تناولت مجموعه أسئلة حول موضوع فضلا عن إجراء بعض المقابلات الشخصية مع هذه الفئة والتعرف على وجهة نظرهم حول موضوع البطالة وما يترتب عنه، كما تم الاعتماد على المنهج الوصفي الذي هدف تسجيل حالة الوصف للحقائق التي تتعرض لها هذه الفئة. وتناول الفصل الأول مفهوم البطالة كونها ظاهرة اجتماعية اقتصادية وجدت مع وجود الإنسان وخاصة في المجتمعات الحديثة، كما تناول الجذور التاريخية للبطالة في العراق والواقع الحالي للبطالة وأنواعها. وتناول الفصل الثاني الجانب التطبيقي حيث حددت الباحثة، استمارة استبيان ضمت عشرة أسئلة تم توزيعها على عينة البحث المتكونة من 200 خريج عاطل عن العمل، وتم وضع الأجوبة في جدول، ثم تم تحليل استمارة الاستبيان ومن خلالها، تم وضع العديد من التوصيات التي تحد من ظاهرة البطالة منها توفير الدولة رؤوس أموال للعاطلين من الخريجين لإقامة مشاريع صغيرة لسد نفقاتهم ونفقات عوائلهم، شمولهم برواتب الرعاية الاجتماعية، وتثقيف الشباب على عدم الهجرة.
