|a يعد علم العلل من أهم علوم النقد لاختصاصها بما دق وخفى من الوهم الواقع على الحديث، وقد عنى النقاد به وبذلوا فيه جهدا كبيرا، واتبعوا منهجا أصيلا دقيقا، ولأهمية الدراسة التطبيقية، جاءت هذه الدراسة؛ تهدف إلى الكشف عن قيمة منهج التعليل عند النقاد، وذلك من خلال دراسة حديثية نقدية تتناول مسألة المسح على الخفين في كتاب ابن أبي حاتم، لبيان المنهجية وتحديد العلة، وتخريج ودراسة المسألة والمقارنة بين النقاد، وأسفرت الدراسة عن عدة نتائج أهمها؛ أهمية الممارسة النقدية، وأن العلة في المسألة إبدال راو براو، وأن من وجوه الترجيح ترجيح رواية الأكثر أو الأصح، وأن النقاد يشتركون في المسألة بقدر معين ويخلفون في جهة أخرى من المسألة، وقد يعلون الرواية لصفة مكروهة في الراوي وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة مواصلة مثل هذه الدراسات النقدية للوقوف على أهمية الممارسة في علم العلل.

|b The science of Defective Tradition is considered as one of the most important sciences of criticism that deals with the subtleties of the misconceptions about the Hadith. Critics were much concerned about this science, exerted a lot of efforts in this area and followed an original and precise methodology in dealing with it. The present study came as an application to the value of the Defective Tradition Approach in critics through a critical study of Hadith that deals with the issue of wiping over the footwear in the book of Ibn Abi Hatim to show the methodology, define the defect, authenticate the issue and compare between the critics. The study reached some conclusions: the critical study is important, the defect in the issue, is due narrator-to-narrator substitution, the cause of the preponderance of one narration over the other is being most recurrent or most authentic, the critics share some of the views though they may sometimes disagree among themselves, and they might regard the narration as defect just because of a defect in the character of the narrator. The study recommends the continuation of such critical studies to cognize the importance of application in the science of Defective Tradition.
