المستخلص: In this article, we examine empirically the causal relationship between financial development and economic growth in Algeria during the period 1980-2017 via the error correction model. More precisely, the article aims to determine whether financial development causes Granger's economic development in Algeria or vice versa. The empirical results of the study show that the financial sector has a positive effect on long-term economic growth. In addition, there is a unidirectional causal link from the financial sphere to the real sphere.

Dans cet article, nous examinons empiriquement la relation de causalité entre le développement financier et la croissance économique en Algérie durant la période de 1980-¬2017 via le modèle à correction d'erreur. Plus précisément, l'article vise à déterminer si le développement financier cause au sens de Granger la croissance économique en Algérie, ou l'inverse. Les résultats empiriques de l'étude montrent que le secteur financier agit positivement sur la croissance économique à long terme. S'ajoute à cela qu'il existe un lien de causalité unidirectionnel allant de la sphère financière vers la sphère réelle.
