The field of African studies in today’s world is of great importance, due to the tendency of the major scientific disciplines to focus and narrow its scope through specialization, especially in area studies, hence, focusing on the promising continent of Africa, which did not find its sufficient fortune in study and research. Due to the fact that the first pioneers who were interested in this field were Frankish scholars (Africanist), who established centers and institutes for this field in the universities of the West, and others. What is important is that a large number of these centers and institutes - hardly devoid of any university in a Western, Arab or African state - play a prominent role in supporting the pillars of this field, which has become a strategic field, in which experts compete. Therefore, the article tackles defining the field of African studies in Sudan and its beginnings, introducing the largest centers and institutes specialized in the field of African studies in Sudan, the challenges facing the field of African studies, and the future of African studies in Sudan
