|f The relationship between smoking and lung cancer occupies an important place in the research, studies and projects of States, societies and world organizations. At the global level, the frightening statistics of consumption and production and deaths caused by this scourge require anti-tobacco strategies taking into consideration the characteristics of each country and/or each region. To quantify the causality between smoking and lung cancer, the survival model of Cox (1972) was estimated, the results confirm the negative effect on the occurrence of lung cancer, but about the acceleration of the process of cancer deaths, this effect was unclear. In another aspect, tobacco and its industry has more importance and interest; important, because tobacco is the main risk factor for lung cancer; tobacco consumption is also an additional burden on public and/or individual “social cost” expenditure, and the tobacco industry is also considered a main factor of pollution. Of interest, because, economically, the tobacco industry is of great influence both at the global level (international companies) and at the national level (turnover, profits, taxation). |d La relation entre tabagisme et cancer du poumon occupe une place importante dans les recherches, études et projets des États, des sociétés et des organisations mondiales. Au niveau mondial, les statistiques effrayantes de la consommation et de la production et des décès causés par ce fléau nécessitent des stratégies anti-tabac en prenant en considération les caractéristiques de chaque pays et/ ou de chaque région. Pour quantifier la causalité entre le tabagisme et le cancer du poumon, on a estimé le modèle de survie du Cox (1972), les résultats confirment l’effet négatif sur la survenu du cancer du poumon, mais à propos de l’accélération du processus de décès des cancéreux, cet effet n’était pas claire. Dans autre volet, le tabac et son industrie a plus d’importance et d’intérêt ; d’importance, parce que le tabac est le premier facteur du risque de cancer de poumon ; la consommation du tabac aussi est un fardeau supplémentaire sur les dépenses publiques et/ou individuelles « coût social », et l’industrie du tabac aussi est considéré comme un facteur principale de pollution. D’intérêt, parce que, économiquement, l’industrie du tabac est de grande influence tant au niveau mondiale (compagnies internationales) qu’au niveau national (chiffres d’affaires, bénéfices, fiscalité).
