يهدف هذا البحث إلى إمكانية استغلال الموارد السياحية في الولاية الشمالية بما يناسب الإمكانات المتاحة والمتنوعة فيه من خلال المشاريع السياحية الناجحة، وتنعم الولاية بتراث ثقافي وطبيعي يؤهلها أن تكون الرائدة في مجال صناعة السياحة في السودان، وذلك من خلال تبني المشاريع السياحية المهمة والاهتمام والعناية بها لتحويل السياحة إلى مورد اقتصادي كبير، فالتنمية السياحية في الولاية حاليا قوة اقتصادية كامنة في انتظار تحويلها إلى واقع ملموس من أجل الوصول إلى التنمية السياحية المستدامة، وهذا يأتي من خلال التخطيط العلمي المدروس لهذه المشاريع، ووضع الاستراتيجيات والسياسات والبرامج التي تغطي كافة الجوانب العلمية لها. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج أهمها، تنوع الموارد والمقومات والجواذب السياحية (ثقافية، وأثرية، وطبيعية، وعلاجية...الخ) وانتشارها علي امتداد الولاية، واهتمام الولاية بالمشاريع السياحية كمشروع مهرجان البركل، ومشروع حضارة كرمة، ومنتجع الخدق السياحي ومشروع قرية دنقلا العجوز السياحية، ومشروع قرية صلب السياحية ومشروع قرية سيسة السياحية بالإضافة لمشروع متحف البيت النوبي. وخرجت الدراسة بعدد من التوصيات أهمها الاستفادة من بيوت الخبرة المحلية والأجنبية في مجال دراسات الجدوى للمشاريع السياحية وعرضها للمستثمرين المحلين والأجانب، وتحديد المواقع والمقاصد ذات الأولوية حسب العرض والطلب في السوق السياحي العالمي والمحلي، وتشجيع القطاع الخاص المحلي والأجنبي للاستثمار في القطاع السياحي وخاصة مشروعات الخدمات السياحية من خلال وضع حوافز استثمارية، وتذليل كافة العقبات، وتهيئة المناخ الاستثماري المناسب بالولاية.
The thesis beforehand is exploring into the possibility of utilizing the Northern Province's tourism capabilities as they commensurate with the huge and diversified capabilities available at the Province. This may take place through the adoption of successful tourism projects as the Province is enjoying a vast sum of cultural and natural heritage that qualify it to be pioneering in tourism industry via adopting sound tourism projects and devoting further efforts and care for transferring tourism industry in Sudan to a major economic source of revenue. Currently, tourism development efforts resemble an economic potential awaiting for exploration and ready to be transferred into a material reality aiming to achieve sustainable tourism development. This could be implemented via studied scientific planning for such projects and to set forth policies, strategies and programs that encompass all scientific-related domains therein. The Study concluded the following results: most important of these, the diversification of resources, fundamentals and aspects of tourism industry at the disposal of the Province (cultural, archeological, natural, medical and others …. etc.) and their widespread province wide. In addition, the Province's care and devotion for tourism projects such as Al-Barkal Mountain Tourism Festival", "Karma Kingdom Civilization Project", "Al-Khandaq Resort Tourism Project", " Dongola Al-Ajouz Tourism Project", "S'allab Village Tourism Project" in addition to Sissah Village Tourism Project" and the "Nubian Home Museum". The study concluded a host of recommendations. Top most of these is to benefit from local and foreign houses of expertise in tourism projects' feasibility study domains and to avail such studies to local and foreign investors in addition to spotting the locations and objectives of vital priority as per a supply and demand principles and present those to the local and international tourism markets. Further, to encourage the private sectors – local and foreign for investing in tourism industry in Sudan particularly, in tourism services' projects and to set forth sound investment incentives, solving all types of problems and impediments and promoting the appropriate tourism atmosphere at the Northern Province for successfully achieving its objectives.
