المستخلص: هدفت هذه الدراسة للتعرف على أهمية ما تحمله السياحة من طاقات وإمكانات لدعم فرص النمو لدى المجتمعات المحلية حول العالم، وفي سبيل ذلك استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي والتحليلي لتحقيق ذلك الهدف، وتوصل إلى عدد من النتائج والتي تمثلت في الدور الذي يضطلع به المجتمع المحلي في تعزيز التنمية السياحية المستدامة في الجوانب الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، فهي تؤثر في التقريب بين الشعوب، وتسهم في جعل المجتمع أكثر قبولا للتغيرات الثقافية والاجتماعية التي تعتريه، وتساهم السياحة في تنشيط الحراك الاجتماعي في المجتمع المحلي، كما تلعب السياحية دورا هاما في تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية للمجتمعات المحلية من خلال زيادة الدخل لهذه المجتمعات من العملات الصعبة، وتوفير فرص عمل جديدة لتقضي على البطالة أو على الأقل الحد منها، فضلا عن تغيير التركيب المهني للسكان من خلال ما تنتجه من مهن جديدة في مجالات السياحية المختلفة، ومن أهم التوصيات التي خلصت إليها الدراسة تنمية الوعي السياحي للمجتمعات المحلية بأهمية دور السياحة في تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية المستدامة لهم علي المستوى الوطني والمحلي، وضرورة الاهتمام بالسياحية لتنمية المجتمعات المحلية لأنها تساعد على خلق فرص أكثر للعمالة، وبالتالي تعمل على رفع مستوى المعيشة وتكون معينا للوصول إلى ما يصبو إليه المجتمع المحلي في تقدم ورقي.

The aim of this study is to identify the importance of the potentials involved in tourism’s support for local communities’ development opportunities worldwide. To achieve this objective, the researcher used the descriptive and analytical methods respectively where he pinpointed a host of results that reflected the vital role played by Local Communities in their reinforcement for Sustainable Developmental Tourism (SDT) and the role, which SDT plays in the social as well as in the economic domains. SDT has its great effects and influence in bridging the gap between the vastly diversified peoples and communities as well as making the communities less vulnerable for rejection and more likely acceptable for the cultural and social changes that overwhelm communities. Tourism therefore, contributes generously to the activation of social maneuver and transformation of the local community in addition to the vital role it plays in achieving economic development via increasing incomes of these communities and promoting the availability of hard currencies. It further opens new jobs opportunities and abolishes and/or reduces unemployment to the minimum level in such communities. Further, tourism in this context plays a pivotal role in reshaping the demographic structure and population set-up via creation of new jobs in different tourism industry domains. The most vital recommendations concluded by the researcher are the development of tourism for awareness at the local communities. In addition to injecting those into the vitality of the role and contribution of tourism aiming at scoring sustainable economic and social development both at the national and local levels alike. This is because tourism avails further job opportunities and consequently; works for raising the standards of living and becomes a vehicle for achieving the ambitions and objectives of the local communities’ development, welfare and progress.
