المستخلص: الناصر أبو المظفر يوسف بن أيوب (589-532 هـ/ ١١٩٣-١١٣٨ م)، المشهور بلقب صلاح الدين الأيوبي، قائد عسكري وسياسي أسس الدولة الأيوبية، بعد أن كانت أراضي الخلافة الإسلامية تخضع لقوى متعددة متنافرة وقع بينها الخلاف والتناحر وعملت كل منها على التوسع على حساب الأخرى، مما سهل دخول العدوان الصليبي إلى أرضنا ومقدساتنا. إلا أن ضعف المسلمين وتفرقهم لم يدم طويلا بفضل ما تمخضت عنه يقظتهم وتفائلهم بالنصر، ومن ثم ظهور صلاح الدين الأيوبي، لقد كان ظهوره ضرورة، إذ يصف المؤرخ هاملتون جب عصره بأنه: ((يمثل إحدى تلك اللحظات النادرة والمثيرة في التاريخ البشري))، والدارس لشخصية صلاح الدين يدرك، أنه اجتمع فيه صفات قيادية أهلته للقيام بدور كبير، كان له أثره على أسرته وعلى العالم الإسلامي أجمع. بقي صلاح الدين اثنتي عشرة سنة من (570-582 هـ / ١١٧٤- ١١٨٦م) يعمل لتحقيق الوحدة، وإعداد العدة، قبل أن يبدأ بمرحلة التحرير، وقد كسب خلال هذه المدة محبة جمهور المسلمين وثقتهم، ومن ثم تمكن أن ينتصر على مناوئيه من الأمراء المسلمين المعارضين لجهوده ألوحدوية وذلك لحسن استراتيجيته السياسية والعسكرية، والمناداة بما كان يطمح إليه جمهور المسلمين من توحيد الجهود ورص القوى لتحرير سائر البلاد الإسلامية من الغزاة الفرنجة. إن دراسة عصر صلاح الدين دراسة تحليلية لمعرفة استراتيجيته المتبعة لتحقيق انتصاراته ضرورة، وبالأخص أن الظروف السياسية ألسائدة آنذاك كانت قريبة الشبه بظروفنا الحالية، وهذه قد تكون حافزا لنا للاقتداء بها، عسى أن يتحقق لنا بعض ما حقق له من انتصارات، وهذا هو الهدف من دراسة سيرة أبطالنا. يتكون البحث من: خلاصة ومقدمة وتمهيد ومحورين وخاتمة.
