هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة دور البحث العلمي في دعم التنمية المستدامة في جامعة القدس، وما دور الإدارة العليا في تشجيع البحث العلمي. حيث بلغ عدد الأبحاث العلمية التي اختصت في تنمية جامعة القدس (23) بحثا، وبلغ عدد رسائل الماجستير فيما يتعلق بالدراسات الإنسانية (1054) رسالة باللغة العربية، منها 330 بحث صدرت عن معهد التنمية المستدامة بمجالات مختلفة، و(400) رسالة باللغة الإنجليزية، وتم استخدام المنهج الوصفي من خلال استخدام ثلاث طرق في جمع البيانات كمصادر مهمة في التحليل، وهي المقابلات الحرة من ذوي الاختصاص، وتحليل المضمون من وثائق وتقارير والنشرات الصادرة عن الجامعة من خلال الموقع الإلكتروني والعلاقات العامة ودائرة البحث العلمي، وكتب ومراجع، ورؤية الباحث كموظف في الجامعة منذ تأسيسها، والمقابلات المقننة مع بعض المسئولين ذات العلاقة، وخرجت النتائج بأن دائرة البحث العلمي وبدعم من الإدارة العليا في الجامعة تدعم الباحثين وبقوة، سواء كانت في مجال العلوم، أو في مجال الدراسات الإنسانية تنمية الجامعة وما وصلت إليه بالفعل، كما أظهرت الدراسة بأن معظم مجالات التنمية والتطوير في مرافق الجامعة المختلفة كانت نتيجة دعم خارجي، وبجهد من الإدارة العليا، خاصة في مجال التمويل.
This study aimed to know the role of scientific research in support of sustainable development at the Al-Quds University, and the role of senior management in encouraging scientific research.
