المستخلص: Externally bonded CFRP reinforcement was used in increasing the flexural and shear strength for rectangular reinforced concrete beams. Throughout the developing and the applications of artificial intelligence in general and the artificial neural networks it became appropriate to be used in this investigation. Shear strength was predicted using artificial neural networks for rectangular RC beams strengthened with externally bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). A mathematical model was developed to determine shear strength. A model was developed using 90 sets of experimental results for rectangular RC beams data published in the literature. The study revealed that the model (ANN) gave better performance than the building codes approach. The results indicated that the Coefficient of Regression value (R = 0.89) when comparing the model outcomes with the experimental results. Meanwhile, the American Guideline ACI 440.2 R-17 and European Recommendations fib TG 9.3 (FIB 2001) offered a value of coefficient of regression (R=0.84) and (R=0.77) respectively.
