المستخلص: In Mauritania, the integration of gender perspectives into government policies and programs has been gradual. These are the humanitarian liabilities and all their consequences, and the La Baule speech. These events and their links to human rights have allowed the issue of women's rights to be reintroduced into the political agenda. From 1990 onwards, the government committed itself to a process of institutional and strategic transformation. This commitment was later concretized by the adoption of the gender mainstreaming approach. This study aims to trace Mauritania's efforts in adopting laws and creating progressive institutions for the cause of women since the Beijing Conference, and to analyze its perception of the concept of gender.

En Mauritanie, l’intégration des perspectives genresdans les politiques et les programmes gouvernementaux a été progressive. Ce processus aurait pour origine deux principauxévénements d’ordre interne et international. Il s’agit du passif humanitaire192avec toutes ses conséquences, etdu discours de La Baule. Ces évènements et leurs liens avec les droits fondamentaux ontpermis à la question des droits des femmes d’être réintroduite dans les préoccupations politiques. Le gouvernement s’estengagé à partir de 1990 dans un processus de transformation institutionnelle et stratégique. Cet engagement s’est plus tard concrétisée par l’adoption de l’approche gender mainstreaming (approche intégrée de l’égalité). Cette étude vise, à la fois, à retracer les efforts de la Mauritanie dans l’adoption des lois et la création d’institutions progressistes pour la cause des femmesdepuis la Conférence de Beijing, età analyser sa perception du concept genre.
