|a ساهم تأسيس مبحث تاريخ العلوم في كشف الغطاء عن جزء مهم من تاريخ الإسهامات العلمية لمختلف شعوب العالم، ونخص بالذكر هنا المساهمة العلمية للشعوب العربية الإسلامية خلال المرحلة الوسيطية من تاريخ الإسلام، التي انبرى إليها مؤرخو العلوم سواء المستشرقين أو أهل الدار بالدراسة والتحقيق. لكن رغم أهمية مساهماتهم العلمية في الكشف عن مجموعة من الحقائق العلمية المطمورة؛ إلا أن بعضهم سقطوا في امتحان الذاتية، إذ سجنت رؤيتهم للمرحلة المؤرخ لها نظرتين الأولى تبخيسية من قبل بعض المستشرقين، والثانية تقديسية تمجيدية من أهل الدار.

|b The foundation of the research study of history of sciences has contributed in uncovering a significant part of the scientific contributions of the various nations. We particularly mention the scientific contribution of the Arabian Islamic nations during the medieval stage of the Islamic history which the science chroniclers whether the orientalists or the indigenous emarked upon with study and investigation. However, despite the importance of their scientific contribution in uncovering a group of the unknown scientific facts, some of them failed the test of subjectivity as their views about the chronicled period were restricted to two perspectives, the first was an underestimation expressed by some orientalists, and the other was a sort of glorification expressed by the indigenous chroniclers.
