المستخلص: This paper consists in evaluating bank performance in Algeria by analyzing a sample of ten banks operating in Algeria for 2006-2015, we found that the overall performance of the bank ingsect or in Algeria is lower than that of African countries. Also, we concluded that private banks are on average more efficient than public banks. The data shows the existence of decreasing returns to scale in the bank ingindustry in Algeria. Finally, we validate the assumptions of "risk-return" and "expense preference" in the Algerian context.

Le présent travail consiste en l’évaluation de la performance bancaire en Algérie. A travers l’analyse d’un échantillon de dix banquessur la période 2006-2015, nous avons constaté que la performance globale du secteur bancaire en Algérie est inférieure à la moyennedes pays africains. Aussi, nous avons conclu que les banques privées sont en moyenne plus performantes que les banques publiques .Nous avons également constaté l’existence de rendements d’échelle décroissants. Enfin, nous validons les hypothèses de « risk-return » et d’« expensepreference » dans le contexte algérien.
