المستخلص: The unification of Italy resulted from a long and complex revolutionary process, with the result of the birth of a unified state, but with serious social problems, and above all cultural, economic and political differences between the urbanized and industrialized north and the agricultural and rural south, with few weak industries. Post-unification Italy experienced a difficult situation facing phenomena such as banditry, misery, poverty and above all the spread of mafia, which is part of all fields of life and il exercised its power with violence and threat becoming a typical subculture of south Italy, even if it is then extended to many other countries in the world. In fact, in this article we intend to talk about the mafia as a phenomenon that has characterized Sicilian, with a particular interest in “Cosa Nostra”, a mafia organization with its characteristics that distinguish it from other criminal groups.
