تتمثل المقدرة الجوهرية بمدى قدرة المنظمة على امتلاك الموارد والقابليات التي تمكنها من التفوق على منافسيها والتي تعد مصدرا للميزة التنافسية وتفوقها، وتعد المقدرات الجوهرية اليوم أهم الموارد التي تمتلكها المنظمة ومدى استخدامها لها بالكفاءة والفاعلية المطلوبة توجيهها واستغلالها بالشكل الذي يتوافق مع أهدافها الاستراتيجية لتعزيز أدائها الاستراتيجي ومن ثم تحقيق الميزة التنافسية المتمثلة بقيادة الكلف أو التمايز أو التركيز، لذا يهدف البحث إلى معرفة مستوى توافر المقدرة الجوهرية في القطاع الصناعي فضلا عن تحديد طبيعة ونوع العلاقة بين أبعاد المقدرات الجوهرية والأداء الاستراتيجي للمنظمة ومن ثم دورها في تحقيق الميزة تنافسية. لحل مشكلة البحث المتمثلة بعدم مواكبة القطاع الصناعي للتطورات المتسارعة الذي شهدها العالم في مختلف الميادين والأنشطة وذلك من خلال عدم الاهتمام بتكريس الموارد نحو بناء المقدرة الجوهرية للمنظمة وتكريس مفردات هذه المقدرة في تعزيز الأداء الاستراتيجي ومن ثم خلق ميزة تنافسية للمنتج المحلي، لذا استند البحث على فرضية مفادها هناك علاقة ارتباط معنوية ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المقدرات الجوهرية المتمثلة ب(المعرفة – المهارة - تكنلوجيا المعلومات) والأداء الاستراتيجي والميزة التنافسية (الالتزام- التمكين- القيادة- التعلم- المرونة-قيادة الكلف) مع ثبات العوامل الأخرى فضلا عن وجود علاقة تأثير معنوية ذات دلالة إحصائية بين للمقدرات الجوهرية على الأداء الاستراتيجي والميزة التنافسية، أهم النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث افتقار القطاع الصناعي إلى الدراية والمعرفة الشاملة بأهمية أبعاد المقدرة الجوهرية وتأثيرها على تحسين الأداء الاستراتيجي ومن ثم تحقيق الميزة التنافسية.
