إن الحديث عن اللون ودلالته في الشعر العربي يعني الخوض في جانب مهم من جوانب الطبيعة التي كانت -ومازالت -سر إبداع الشاعر ومصدر إلهامه، فضلا عما يحتله توظيف اللون من ساحة واسعة في شعر بلند الحيدري، فيعمد الشاعر على بيان أثر الألوان وما يؤديه بوظيفة أكبر من المجازات البلاغية في إيصال الصورة للمتلقي، وبشكل أشد تأثيرا، فأدت الألوان الدور الأكبر في رسم الدلالات وتحقيق التأثير بأقصى درجاته بغية إيصالها للمتلقي الذي كان يشاطره فهم هذه الدلالات، وتزعم هذه الدراسة (دلالة اللون في شعر بلند الحيدري) أنها ذات اتجاه مغاير للدراسات الوصفية الكثيرة السابقة، فقد طمحت وتطرقت الدراسة إلى الوصول لشعرية اللون من خلال اللون ودلالته والتفاوت بينهما في شعره، واقتصرت في دراستي على النصوص التي ظهر فيها اللون بدلالات مميزة وواضحة ولتلائم عينة البحث بجانبه النظري والتطبيقي.
