المستخلص: قام «لويس شيخو» بجهود واضحة في مجال اللغة العربية وآدابها، حوتها كتب عديدة، من هذه الكتب كتاب «النصرانية وآدابها بين عرب الجاهلية»، وقد كان للشعر نصيب موفور في هذا الكتاب، حيث اتخذ المؤلف من التراث الشعري شاهدا لآرائه ودليلا لأقواله. وقد بلغ اهتمام «لويس شيخو» بتوظيف الشعر في كتاب «النصرانية وآدابها بين عرب الجاهلية» مبلغا يكاد لا يخلو موضوع في الكتاب من توظيف الشعر فيه. وتكاد أسباب توظيف الشعر في كتاب «النصرانية وآدابها بين عرب الجاهلية» تنحصر في سبب واحد، ألا وهو الاستشهاد والاستدلال على ما كان للنصرانية من حضور ووجود في جزيرة العرب قبل ظهور الإسلام على مستوى الأجناس والقبائل والبلدان والأشخاص والآداب. وقد أصاب «لويس شيخو» في عديد من المواضع التي وظف فيها الشعر في هذا الكتاب، لكن لم يحالفه الصواب في مواضع أخرى. من هنا يحاول هذا البحث أن يقف مع هذه المواضع من توظيف الشعر في كتاب «النصرانية وآدابها بين عرب الجاهلية» عارضا، ومحللا، وناقدا، في حيدة تتخذ من الدليل شاهدا لكل رأي وعمادا لكل قول.

“Louis Sheikho” made clear efforts in the field of Arabic language and literature, which included many books, one of these books is the book “Christianity and its literature among the pre-Islamic Arabs.” Poetry had an abundant share in this book, as the author took the poetic heritage as a witness to his views and evidence for his words. The interest of “Louis Sheikho” in employing poetry in the book “Christianity and its Etiquette among the Arabs of the Pre-Islamic era” reached an amount that almost does not lack a topic in the book from employing poetry in it The reasons for employing poetry in the book “Christianity and its literature among the pre-Islamic Arabs” are almost confined to one reason, which is martyrdom and inference about the presence and existence of Christianity in the Arabian Peninsula before the advent of Islam at the level of races, tribes, countries, people and morals. He was correct «Louis Shekho» in many places in which he used poetry in this book, but he was not right in other places. Hence, this research attempts to stand with these positions of the use of poetry in the book “Christianity and its Etiquette among the Arabs of the Pre-Islamic era,” presenting, analyzing, and criticizing, in a neutrality that takes from the evidence as a witness to every opinion and a mainstay for every saying.
