المستخلص: This article aims to introduce Professor BelkacemBensmail and highlight his role as a psychiatrist, scientist, thinker and reformer in the Algerian movement for educational and social reform, as well as to collect and organize a body of important information on the suicide excerpts from his works, we relied on the theoretical method, where we reviewed the theoretical scientific heritage and previous studies on this researcher and his writings on suicide, Through this research article, we concluded that the works of Ibn Ismail are authentic, because he raised many sensitive points, such as the question of the nosographic and semantic fields of the terms and the defects they raise, as well as the socio-cultural framework of the region. His study on suicide can be a reference and even a starting point for many studies on suicide, especially in this region of the Maghreb.

Cet article a pour objectif de présenter le professeur BelkacemBensmail et de souligner son rôle de psychiatre, scientifique, penseur et réformateur dans le mouvement algérien de réforme éducative et sociale, ainsi que de collecter et d'organiser un ensemble d'informations importantes sur le suicide extraites de ses oeuvres, nous nous sommes appuyés sur la méthode théorique, où nous avons passé en revue l'héritage scientifique théorique et les études antérieures sur ce chercheur et ses écrits sur le suicide, A travers cet article de recherche, nous avons conclu que les oeuvres d'Ibn Ismail sont authentiques, car il a soulevé de nombreux points sensibles, comme la question des champs nosographiques et sémantiques des termes et les défauts qu'ils soulèvent, ainsi que le cadre socio-culturel de la région.
