By examining the plastic art in the cities of southern Iraq from several periods of time, the researcher noticed that the subject of (plastic arts in Iraqi cities) was not collected or addressed objectively. Their work was depicted or their careers recorded, and they ended up mentioning them without documenting or finding a special archive for their artworks. Therefore, I found it necessary to know the history of the art march and the plastic artists in these cities and the relationship of the cultural environment to that march; And what are the most important activities under the different and successive circumstances in the history of Iraqi society. It is noticeable that the number of these cities and the codification of their artistic history requires several researches, so this research was devoted to one of the southern cities, which is the city of Samawah. We get to know and shed light on a number of artistic personalities in this city, and the most important political, economic and social conditions and data that surround them. The historical research method was used and the informal (unstructured) interview tool was followed, while the artists (currently deceased or outside the country) were excluded from the interview tool and relied on interviewing their colleagues or close to them or what was written about them in newspapers and magazines The current study is also one of the exploratory and historical studies that call for following the history of plastic art starting from the fifties to the year 2005 AD. |
